brucewebHi! My name is Bruce D. Johnson and I’m the proud parent of two wonderful girls, Chelsea and Brooke, who have become wonderful women in their own right and are now both married (Chelsea to David and Brooke to Sam).

As they’ve begun this new stage, I decided that it would be wise for me, as their father, to share with them—as well as their spouses, their future children, and my nieces and nephews—some of the life lessons I’ve learned along the way in order to help them avoid making some of the mistakes I or others have made and to make sure they have the best shot at experiencing the best life they possibly can—in essence, to speed up and enhance the probability they might experience more success in their lives.

The genesis of this idea actually began years ago in a chance encounter, back in 2000, with the then, Lt. Governor of Maryland, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend. The story takes too long to tell but what she did was rather remarkable. As I thought about it for the remainder of that day, I came to this conclusion,

“I bet this is something she learned to do while growing up in the Kennedy household. She was probably told from an early age, ‘This is what Kennedy’s do,’ and then taught how to do it.”

I hadn’t grown up having those kinds of experiences (though I have two incredible parents) and thought, “Someday, I ought to catalog some of these life lessons I’ve learned in order that I might start a new tradition in our family of passing along life lessons from generation to generation.”

The result of that thought is this site, www.TheJohnsonLetters.com

Since none of us knows how long we have to live on planet earth, I thought it wise to start writing these in my early 50’s. And, hopefully, someday, these lessons will be passed down from generation to generation.

If you’re reading these letters and you’re not one of my nuclear or extended family members, I extend you a warm welcome (as an honorary Johnson :-) and hope that you’ll find these “Johnson Letters” helpful to your success as well.

To your accelerated success,

P.S. In case you’re curious about what I do for a living, I’m the founder of a business growth coaching, consulting and executive education firm called Wired To Grow  (www.WiredToGrow.com) and my wife, Jacquie, and I live in Mount Pleasant, SC (just outside of Charleston, SC).
